Mechanism Health Check & PMD ADC Calibration History
The health status of the APSM and NDFM mechanism has to be checked on a
regular basis (once/month until February 2003, bimonthly since March 2003).
This is accomplished by running a pre-defined procedure at FOCC which actuates
these mechanisms. The pass/fail analysis of the checks occurs automatically
on-board.
In addition to this activity, a PMD ADC calibration is required
The PMD ADC calibration is also triggered at FOCC by a pre-defined procedure, usually once/month. In case an anomaly has transferred SCIAMACHY to STANDBY, this procedure can be omitted. Both APSM/NDFM health check and PMD ADC calibration are executed in the eclipse phase of the orbit. The table below provides

PMD ADC entries marked by a '*' indicate an instrument switch-off (planned or anomaly) which 'replaced' the regular calibration.
