SCIAMACHY cL0 Data Availability

Usually SCIAMACHY generates data continuously over the orbit with only short, pre-planned gaps. In the illuminated part of the orbit limb and nadir together with occasional limb_mesosphere_thermosphere measurements are executed while the eclipse observations mainly serve calibration & monitoring purposes. A specific case are the limb_mesosphere measurements in eclipse which have turned out to be of high scientific interest for mesospheric studies.

As long as no interrupts occur - planned or triggered by an in-orbit anomaly - the downlinked data shall reflect planned measurements. Due to acquisition or processing anomalies, the ground segment may add to phases with data unavailability. Such additional data gaps could either affect data being generated in near-realtime or offline. In the latter case they are commonly referred to as consolidated products. Since a consolidated product spans one complete orbit from ANX to ANX, it is the best representation of the measurement schedule. Based on the lowest level of measurement data, i.e. level 0, a record of consolidated data availability is currently maintained for the years 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 . It informs the user which orbits have been processed to consolidated level 0 products and which consolidated orbits are either missing or corrupt.

The cL0 record is the result of our verification of the consolidated products delivered by LRAC via D-PAC. This verification generates a master archive of cL0 data. It serves SOST's long-term monitoring responsibilities and is used as a repository for future level 1b and level 2 reprocessing campaigns.
